In the last years, several companies underwent important digital transformations and one of the consequences was the creation of an increasingly wide cyber environment, that is more exposed to the risk of attacks. In response to this phenomenon, the SMI Group adopted cybersecurity measures to prevent accidents and enhance the protection of customers' and partners' data, as the GDPR (General Regulation on Data Protection) establishes.

• use of cloud solutions and communication protocols that ensure high safety standards, constant interventions for their maintenance and easy monitoring
• creation of a team dealing with cybersecurity

We are, in fact, currently implementing further measures to face the challenges related to cybersecurity. Among them are:

• the use of artificial intelligence in self-learning to detect anomalies in the network traffic
• analysis of the dark web
• adoption of a management system in compliance with ISO 27001
   

What can you do?

In addition to these measures, we think that a key role in the prevention of risks related to data and information exchange is played by the raising of consciousness and awareness through a series of best practices. Below, you will find some recommendations in order to protect yourself from the most common scam for stealing personal data and information: phishing.

These are small precautions that can make the difference and help you prevent attacks:

• pay attention to the e-mails that you receive and always check the domain. Sometimes only a letter, a character or the extension are changed
• make sure that your software programs and your security tools are updated

• cast doubt on the legitimacy of communications that you receive. There are warning bells that can help you detect phishing attempts, such as the presence of grammatical errors, the urgent request for sensitive information, suspicious links or unexpected attachments
